After the policy of the Subsidiary Alliance, Dalhousie’s policy of Annexation shook the whole nation terribly. This resulted in dissatisfaction among the people towards the Britishers.

A glimpse of the dissatisfaction can be witnessed in the films of Indian origin like ‘Kranti’, ‘Mangal Pandey: The Rising’, ‘The Legend Of Bhagat Singh’, ‘23rd March 1931: Shaheed’ and many more.

At this time, the people were suppressed under the dictatorial regime of the British. In addition to that, the reforms made by Dalhousie added fuel to the fire. Different people reacted differently to railways, facilities of post and telegraph, and western education. Orthodox people felt that Britishers wanted to destroy their culture. But, according to Britishers the reforms made by them were to run the administration smoothly.

The dissatisfaction of the Indians had reached a point of saturation and their state of rebellion resulted in the freedom movement of 1857.

The freedom movement started in 1857 finally gifted freedom to India in 1947, almost 100 years of hardships of the freedom fighters.

In the next blog, onwards we will be seeing the effects of the British Rule in India. So,

Stay Tuned!! & Stay Safe!!
